Full squash returns Monday 17th May
We are delighted to have heard from England Squash that they expect a FULL return to
squash and racketball to be permitted from Monday (17th May)! This is subject to government confirmation (expected later today, Friday), but we will let you know if there are any unexpected changes.
There will be no requirements for ‘bubbles’ or ‘sides’ or ‘modified’ versions of the game – so please get in touch with your old squash friends (or enemies) and get some games arranged!
Club life will also be able to largely return to normal – with club nights, internal leagues and other activities able to return – details on these will follow via the usual channels in due course.
Remember that since we have last been able to play properly, extensive refurbishments have taken place throughout the club, with courts 4/5, the showers and changing rooms extensively renovated, so we hope that everyone will be able to enjoy the club more than ever.
Staffing
Pete will be back at the club full time, from Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday inclusive (no steward Wednesdays or Sundays).
The Bar
Will be open as normal. Please note that in order to comply with legal restrictions, this will be ‘at table’ service only, and you should wear a mask between the threshold of the bar and taking your seat.
Junior coaching
We have decided that from Saturday 29th May onwards, junior coaching will return to the normal Saturday 10am-12noon slot for all kids, with no advance booking requirement. However, advance booking will continue to be required for the upcoming sessions on Saturday 15th and Saturday 22nd May.
Face masks
To clarify the position regarding face masks, as noted above, you are required to wear one between the bar threshold and taking a seat at a table – signage is in place to remind you of this.
Around the club, as a sporting venue, face masks are recommended but not required by law. Per England Squash’s guidance we therefore request that you consider wearing one when not on court, although this is ultimately your own decision.
This is a huge step forward for both our club and all others across the country – we hope that from Monday club life should begin to feel almost ‘normal’ again – and we hope to see you there very soon.
