Further update on reopening

Note: this page has been updated 4/12/2020 to reflect further updates from England Squash and Boston SRC.

We would like to remind everyone that the club reopens from tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd December), 10am. We would also like to update everyone on some other areas:

  • Solo and own household play now permitted

  • Reduced staffing

  • Table tennis

Solo practice and play within households now permitted

We are pleased to confirm that England Squash have revised their guidance, and solo practice and play with fellow members of your own household is now permitted. This is in addition to the resumption of junior coaching sessions (04.12.20 update: one-to-one coaching for adults using socially distanced practices is also now permitted).

However, any kind of squash/racketball activity with members of another household is strictly not allowed. We appreciate this is very frustrating, and as a committee would of course love to be able to play normally ourselves, but we do need to ask for members' assistance in complying with these rules.

Please do note that we intend to fully refund members for the recent November lockdown, and are also looking into fully compensating members for this period of severe restrictions if at all possible, so we are aiming for no-one to feel out of pocket as a result of these restrictions. The committee will be discussing this as soon as practical.

Staffing whilst in Tier 3

Given the restrictions on squash/racketball, we expect activity at the club to be greatly reduced in the coming weeks. The bar is also closed by law. GIven this, it has been decided that Pete will be 'part furloughed' for the time being, to help preserve cashflow whilst leaving sufficient hours to ensure the cleaning regime is maintained.

Staffed hours will therefore be reduced to 10am-12noon, Monday-Saturday (no staff Sundays).

Please try and plan around this in terms of having sufficient tokens etc. If this causes difficulties with regard to getting hold of tokens, please e-mail Pete (bostonsquashandracketball@gmail.com) and we will find a solution to get some to you.

Table tennis

We can now confirm rules around Table Tennis at the club. Whilst in Tier 3, you can play with members of your own household only.

Group coaching sessions are unfortunately not permitted whilst in Tier 3.

Kind regards,

The Committee
