New court floors installed

Two brand new court floors have been installed at Boston Squash and Racketball Club. The two glass-back courts at the front of the club, which can be overlooked from the bar, have both received the refurbishment. It follows the re-plastering of the same courts' front walls five years ago, and new lighting for all five of the club's courts just two years ago. As well as new wooden panel flooring and court markings, new sponsor tins are also being put in place. The new floors took two days to put in place after the previous ones were kindly taken up by club member Rusty Wright. The work leaves the courts in excellent condition, having originally been built in 1978. The club's other three courts were renovated in 1997 to become the UK's first ever National Lottery funded 'rainbow' courts. "This is a really significant investment in the club's facilities," said club Chairman Mark Hildred. "The club is run by its members so we always look to use any available funds to improve what's on offer." As a dynamic sport, squash requires powerful acceleration and quick changes of direction. The new flooring will reduce the impact on players' joints and muscles, and also provides more grip.

As well as being enjoyed by members, the club is hopeful the investment will help it to secure more events.
